Klezmer Session at The Ducie

The next session at The Ducie, 52 Devas St, Manchester, M15 6HS will be on Monday 23 November.

Calling all klezmer enthusiasts! Whether you are an experienced klezmorim, a beginner klezmorim, a dabbler in folk/gypsy/balkan music, or simply intrigued as to what is klezmer, then this session at The Ducie Arms is for you.

As always,it’s a very informal session and anyone is welcome. All you need to do is bring yourselves, your voice and/or instrument, and a bit of ££ to buy some drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) to keep you going. We hijack the corner of the small intimate pub and just play and drink all night!

There will be a “slow” session for anyone wanting to be taught some tunes, or stylistic things with a small group of us, which will begin around 8pm; the main session will begin at 8.45. If you need to arrive later that is not a problem. If you are a UoM muso are worried about instruments we can also let you back into the MHC with our powers of 24hr postgrad access! There is also plenty of parking on neighbouring streets.

Spread the word by passing this on to anyone who you think may enjoy exploring the klezmer tradition! Any questions, please do not hesitate to message L’chaim Kapelye!

Even if you don’t want to play, just come along for a drink and a listen; the pub itself is a lovely little place and serves nice beers and ciders.
